When Rani proceeded to removing her jacket, Jax raised his eyebrows, his eyes scanning her. She was, by all means, a very athletic woman, there was no need to hide it at all. But still, he felt like he had to keep his eyes to himself. Because there really was someone else to him, even if that was uncertain as hell at the moment. He certainly had no idea what was going on. “You want to join? Well, I was thinking I’d do some running,” he said, shrugging his shoulders lightly. He would be needing to warm up before he got to his combat training, that was for sure. “But go on ahead and join,” he told her, grinning wide as he pulled off his top. He hated running while wearing a top, as it felt restraining to his exercise. Jax hoped Rani wouldn’t mind.
So he started running, waving Rani along with him as he jogged through the big hall. “Maybe we can do some combat training after?” he suggested. He was always more wary when doing his training with women, as he really was a whole lot stronger than most women, but he could also be wrong. Women often had the advantage of being a whole lot quicker than him, as their muscles were leaner than his. Most of all, he had his strength, really, although his past being a dancer did make him more flexible than most men. That wasn’t something he shared with a whole lot of people though, truth be told. “How long have you been in the resistance then? I’ve been here for a long time, but I can’t remember having seen you around.”
Rani nodded to his request, stretching her arms to relieve some of the tension. In the corner of her eye she could see him removing his top, the temptation to turn around and sneak a peak was a little too much but she resisted, she had learnt to not give men the satisfaction of admiration; their egos were often big enough. Nevertheless the extent of his physique soon became clear as they began running, although she refused to show it, the rippling muscles gracing his torso were certainly something to be admired.
She followed close behind him increasing her pace in order to catch up, her hair sweeping across her shoulders as she ran. A smirk crept onto her face as he suggested combat training; most men assumed they could take her easily with her being a woman but Rani believed a woman’s strength lay in the pretense of her weakness. Rani was probably weaker than Jax but she was agile and highly skilled in martial arts combat; she would easily be able to over power him if she could harness her skills. It would certainly be an interesting training session.
“How long have you been in the resistance then? I’ve been here for a long time, but I can’t remember having seen you around.”
Rani slowed her pace a little as she pondered the most suitable reply to his question. She doubted he would trust her if he knew she was a Peacekeeper, although she had no allegiance to the force or Snow, there was an instant stigma attached to it in somewhere like this. Being a double-agent meant you were deceitful, which Rani certainly was, but she was unwilling to divulge this to Jax straight away. Instead she opted for a generic answer “Oh, I’m relatively new. Thought I could make a change here, you know?” She had to force herself from laughing at her reply; she wasn’t here to change the world she was here for revenge.
Rani was keen to begin fighting with Jax she wanted to prove herself, so she brought herself to stop and beckoned him over to the training mats. This would be fun. She stood in the corner, her knees bent, her arms outstretched; this was a pose she had learnt in her training, it’s aim was to intimidate the opponent: to psych them out before you began. “Come on then,” she said with a malicious grin “Show me what you’ve got,” she taunted gesturing him to attack her.
